8. Course Objectives

As a first course in cryptography and information security, this course introduces various security notions and basic building blocks of modern cryptography. We have two types of cryptosystems, called public key cryptosystems and symmetric cryptosystems that include block ciphers and stream ciphers. Famous block ciphers such as DES and AES, and Famous public key cryptosystems such as RSA, ElGamal, ECC will be covered. Moreover, digital signature, hash functions, identification schemes, and zero knowledge proof.
